Please note:  if some of our Go Geo games do not function on school computers, permit pop-ups if the toolbar is blocking them.  Sometimes the problem is that our internet security system at HKIS.  The learning sites will probably work fine if you try them at home.  You can try using different browsers:  Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

1.   Challenge yourself to achieve a personal goal.  We'll report the progress of big learners in The Dragon's Gazette!
2.   Geosense:  Play against yourself or a partner online!   Requires a 1-minute simple registration but does not include advertisements.  Students:  never use your real name or last name when you register at a site like this-- just use a nickname.  Put HKIS in your name to help classmates find you.  Example:  HKISMargaret.  Site includes a chat feature that we do not permit students to use. 2.1   Lots of games at Syvum, including a focus on India, world capitals, vocabulary challenges, and sibroquets (nicknames, similar to analogies.)  (Use Internet Explorer.  Scroll down to see it!)

28.   Learn more about world cultures.  See this great selection of fiction books set in various cultures around the world that we've found for you.  These are highly recommended.

30.   Map projections are discussed here with links to examples.
31.   Reed to Feed "Looks at Books" - search for book titles on such topics as "caring for the earth," "food for life" and "awesome animals."  The search function allows you to search according to a particular reading level.  Books are recommended to support themes of the Heifer Project's Reed to Feed project.
32.   Take your geography skills a step further.  Ask about the CD-ROM available in the library's office.  It links to ISSUES IN GEOGRAPHY and helps you learn about topographical maps.
