Summer Band Workshop

The Summer Band Workshop is an opportunity for students to continue with their music over the summer, and provides an opportunity for students to continue having fun with their music as well as to continue to develop and refine their skills.

Students play a wide variety of pieces (some jazz, classical and concert band) in a large group, but are also working on improving their own individual playing. Students perform solos, improvise, and work in small ensembles (check out SmartMusic!) to gain many new experiences in music-making. Students come out of the summer program with tons of new skills and knowledge.

Computer-based music making (check out Garage Band, and Notepad and Digital Performer) is also a part of the camp. Using the latest in music technology, students get an opportunity to arrange and compose their own music. We also play with samples, loops and other sound sources to create more contemporary sounding electronic music.
