Tuesday Jazz

The Tuesday Jazz Band (Jazz One) is the top jazz group in the Middle School. The group meets every Tuesday from 3:20 to 5, and is auditioned from the 300+ members of the music program.

Tuesday Jazz plays challenging music from a variety of styles including swing, ballads, latin and rock. The band also places a lot of emphasis on soloists, with jazz improvisation being a high priority.

The Tuesday Jazz Band has performed at several venues in and around Hong Kong the last few years. Some of the highlights have included the Rugby Sevens, Youth Arts Festival, Stanley Plaza, Foshan (China) (see pics) and various Middle School events.

Thursday Jazz

The Thursday Jazz Band (Jazz Two) is our largest jazz group in the Middle School. The group meets every Thursday from 3:20 to 4, and is open to anyone enrolled in band.

Thursday Jazz plays challenging music from a variety of styles including swing, ballads, latin and rock. The band also places a lot of emphasis on soloists, with the idea of getting MS students used to standing up and performing solos in front of big crowds..

The Thursday Jazz Band has performed at several venues in and around Hong Kong the last few years. Some of the highlights have included the Chinese New Year Celebration at HKIS, Jazz Cafe, and various Middle School events.
