Course Description:
Science is concerned with the study and comprehension of the physical, chemical and biological phenomena that shapes this planet. The Physical Science course (1 Credit) provides 9th grade students with an integrated science course which complements their science studies in the 8th grade. This course provides a solid foundation for students who will continue their science education with biology and/or chemistry in the 10th grade.

Course Overview:
First Quarter:                             Properties and States of Matter, Atoms, Periodic Table
Second Quarter:                       Compounds, Chemical Reactions, Equations, and applications
Third Quarter:                           Motion, Forces, Energy,
Fourth Quarter:                        Heat, Electricity and Magnetism
Objectives: As a result of taking this course, the student will:

1. Recognize and explain the principles of Physics and Chemistry in everyday life.

2. Develop skills in making scientific observations, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions.

3. Understand the relationship of Mathematics and Science, and  successfully express some ideas of Physics and Chemistry through the language of Mathematics.

4. Gain appreciation and respect for the orderliness of the Universe and for its Creator.

Assignments:
EXCUSED ABSENCES. You have the number of days for which you were absent to complete missed work, but you must speak your teacher on the day you return to receive the homework assignments you missed. This work must be handed directly to your teacher. Homework that is left on a desk and goes missing will be regarded as not having been handed in. Make-up tests will be scheduled as soon as possible after you return.
UNEXCUSED ABSENCES. Homework, laboratories and tests missed due to unexcused absence(s) will not be graded and you will receive a zero for those marks.
GROUP WORK & PRESENTATIONS: This course requires a great deal of group work. Any absence, whether excused or unexcused, will interfere with your group's ability to complete research and create presentations.
HOMEWORK: You will be assigned a wide range of questions that will challenge you to think analytically and creativity. All homework will be due at the beginning of the class period. Students are encouraged to email their teacher at home if they are having difficulty answering any problems. You will be expected to work hard in and out of the classroom.     Cheating and plagiarism are unacceptable.
