Advanced Placement Biology
Core Laboratories
Each year there are 12 core laboratories that must be completed by all AP Biology students.
In recent years the AP Biology Examination has always
included questions, both
multiple choice and essay, either directly based from these labs
or requiring students to design experiments.
In addition to the specific objectives, the labs share the following common goals. Students should be able to:
understand problems
develop hypotheses
design and implement controlled experiments
identify independent and dependant variables
analyze data
draw conclusions
think analytically
communicate results with appropriate data tables and graphs
