| General Information: The republic of Kenya, a nation on the East African coast on the mainland. It is mainly made up of lush rainforests and mountain ranges. Kenya has a population of 30.34 million people and an area of 583 thousand square kilometers. Environment: Kenya' s landscape is a combination of many types. The temperature there ranges between 20 and 40. Much of the landscape is plains and mountains. There are also a few jungles too. The landscape is home to many animals and safaris.
When to go: January and February are the best months to go. Because it is cooler and is not rainy. The rainy periods are from March to M ay, then from October to November. Any other time its dry. June through to September are the hottest months and it is very dry.

Kenya is rich with culture. With 70 ethnic groups, all have their similarities and uniqueness . The Kikuyu, Luhia, Luo and Kikamba tribes are the biggest. But there also many Kenyans who have been westernized. The main languages are Swahili and English and the main religions are Christianity, Islam, and other native religions. These tend to be those who live in the cities.
Brief History: Recordings of life back in Kenya originated as early as 2000BC. In 1498, the Portuguese explorer Vasco De Gama set foot on Kenyan soil. The Portuguese and many other Europeans began trading with Kenya from then on. In the early 19th century, the British colonized Kenya. Finally in 1956, Kenya gained Independence and has been independent ever since.
