I am Ares, the god of war. Although I was bested by Heracles in combat, I am still, master of all ways of combat, skilled in warlike strategies. Odysseus told me that I must tell you mortals about epithets. (O, how I wished Athena had done this) I will tell you what an epithet is straight from the book you mortals call, "dikshionari". It says.. " word or phrase used to describe or substitute for the name of a person or thing."(Notice bold words at the beginning of this paragraph) Here are the epithets for the main characters of the book. |
