GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
DEAR STUDENT,
Sometime
in the near future we will have a fire drill, and be trialing a new evacuation
plan.
All
students will evacuate to the field as per the instructions and map below. (Unless you are
incapacitated in which case you will evacuate through the main gate and report
to Mrs Wong.)
At
the start of the drill your teacher will instruct you as to which stair case
you will use to access the field.
Once
on the field you will move to your community area and report to your
Homeroom advisor - this is a change!!
Please
move quickly but safely, carefully, and quietly down the stairs....
CONGRATULATIONS TO
THE HKIS FORENSICS APAC TEAM FOR A SUCCESSFUL SHOWING IN SHANGHAI LAST WEEKEND!
The
first debate team of Katherine Huang (12) and Yvonne Yu (12) was
ranked first seed after preliminary rounds, making it to finals and claiming second
place overall out of 12 teams. Second debate team of Stephen Suen (10) and Marie Wu (11) also did
exceptionally well, winning a place in the quarter-finals where they
were sadly made to debate a HKIS v. HKIS round.
In
other speaking events, newcomer Rudy Hykl (10)
claimed a silver medal in Oral Interpretation. Rachel Corrigan (10)
was named a finalist in Extemporaneous Speaking, while Stephen Suen (10) and Yvonne Yu (12) were also finalists
in Original Oratory.
First-timers Mitchell
Hung (9), Kristie Look (10), Thomas Ruan
(9), and Andrew Yu (9) also gave strong performances against
stiff competition.
A
great performance all around!
DEAR STUDENTS,
A
reminder that all students (except seniors with privileges) MUST have a signed
gate pass from the office to be given to the guards, if they
are leaving campus for any valid reason during the school day.
A
note from a teacher is not sufficient to leave campus (for example going to Welcome for Homeroom snacks) - students
must present the note to Ms Chau in the office
who will give you a gate pass.
Also
a reminder that the cafeteria closes at 4pm each day, and any of your
belongings need to be removed by then.
Thank
you
Mr Ladner
HEALTH ADVICE- COLD
AND FLU
The
drastic change in air temperature recently is beginning to
affect quite a number of students and staff who present with
cold and flu-like symptoms such as sore throat, dry cough, sneezing,
headaches and body malaise.
Everyone
is urged to observe good personal hygiene, eat plenty of
fresh fruits and vegetables, getting enough sleep and rest.
If
you have a temperature of 37.2C or above, you have to stay home or consult
your family doctor if necessary.

SPORTS
THE VARSITY LADY
DRAGONS
got off to a great start Wednesday with a convincing 60-6 win over the visiting
American International School. Every player contributed to the lopsided
score with Stefanie Young leading the way with 14 followed by Jackie Ewing and
Carolyn Wong with 10 and Ruthie Bird, and Tasha Tang scoring 7 and six
respectively. Next action for the Dragons is Friday when they travel
to AISHK and Saturday evening when they host the Division 1 Lady Keen
Semi-professional team.
