The DragonNet community level of HKIS websites. It contains web sites for community organizations such as the PFO and the Dragon Booster; offers services such as the Trading Post, and has school related information such as newsletters, class pages, and academic booklets.

The DragonNet, unlike many other web sites on the Internet, does not attempt to maintain a continuous design throughout the site, as trying to coordinate a design among over one hundred web publishers would be near to impossible. Instead it is separated into eight main categories each of which is overseen by a single webmaster.

The Web Server itself is maintained by a group of High School students known as "Sysops" (System Operators).

This document is designed to assist those new to the DragonNet in getting their pages published. Please consult this document before you contact one of the DragonNet webmasters.

What is "Publishing"?

Publishing to the DragonNet means putting your files onto the DragonNet server (which is located in Tai Tam). There are two main ways of going about this. On campus you can connect to the DragonNet directly and your web site will appear as another drive on your computer. If you do this, publishing to the DragonNet simply means coping files to this drive. The second method is called (FTP) and you use this method if you are publishing from home.

What is my "DragonNet Account?"

Every student and faculty member at HKIS has an account on the DragonNet. All of these accounts have automatic security settings to view the Directory and other protected areas. However, publishers have additional security that allows them to publish to a specified section of the DragonNet.

Your DragonNet account is llinked to your Novell account. Use the same login name you use to access the network as well as the same password.

To get more information on your publisher account please go to the Account Information Page

Where do I go to get more help?

If you need further assistance contact the person who manages the web site one level below yours. For example if you manage a class page contact the Technology Coordinator in your building.

If you need other assitance please call David Elliott or send e-mail to the sysops
