Hong Kong International School decided in
spring 1998 as a result of the strategic planning process to implement an "electronic
community communications system" expanding our on-line community towards a
comprehensive community website. All members and groups of the HKIS community are invited
to participate in building the DragonNet.
The purpose of the DragonNet is
multifold:
- To create a focus for information accumulation and
dissemination.
- To create instant access to that information.
- To provide environmental responsibility by reducing the
amount of paper used within our community.
- To expand our sense of community, and how we communicate
with each other.
Currently the DragonNet receives over
1200 visits per day from faculty, students, parents and alumni who read newsletter, view
calendars, visit class pages, buy and sell items or participate in online discussions.
The DragonNet is a collective community
effort and currently has over 70 publishers who include parents, faculty, and students.
These publishers are supported by a group
of 11th and 12th grade high school students called Sysops (System
Operators) who administer the DragonNet.
This site is a work in progress and we
hope that each time you visit you will find new and helpful information. Your comments and
suggestions are always welcome.
